For the Great American Eclipse, the total solar eclipse in 2017 that crossed the US, I created a website for the observatory to help educate the public about the Sun and the science of eclipses. One of the features was the creation of a Google map. The map encourages some interaction and gave basic information in local times for the beginning and end of eclipse. I also tried to inject some humor and attitude into the map especially if the point you clicked was close to totality. The difference between 100% and 99% is like night and day. I wanted everyone to experience the eclipse.
