For the move of Backpacker.com to WordPress, a team of five worked to create a hyper-local web experience. My role was mainly supporting the lead designer with custom functions specifically tied to geo-location. I created algorithms to capture the user’s location so that local maps, gear and news features could be delivered to the user and remembered for future use. I was also responsible for porting more than one million forum users to the new site and recreate the community using BuddyPress and BBPress.
